Aug 1 - Mountains South of Sombrerete

There's some very beautiful painted mesas and rock formations just south of Sombrerete that can be seen from the road linking Sombrerete, Suchil and Chalchihuites. Finally I decided to go on foot and explore the area a little.
A foreboding rock landscape. The rocks vary in size from pebbles to as big as SUVs.
Odd looking cactus' and colorful moss growing out of the mesa face. Sorry, I'm not much of botanist.

Rancher trail that runs close to the road.
Rocky stream that runs just off the horse trail.

Jul 10 - Sombrerete Five-O

Later on we took a stroll down main street where we met some Sombrerete Municipal Police who were nice enough to show of their pistols for my camera.

Jul 10 - Social Lubricant

Me and three friends at a secluded area enjoying some social lubricant. This is a popular activity since drinking in public is illegal in Sombrerete and the bars are either very expensive or really sketchy.

Jun 5 - River Bed

Eroded dried up river bed in Sierra Organos.

Jun 5 - Lizard

While climbing the mesa I saw some lizards. I believe both these are young Spiny lizards.

Jun 5 - Sierra Organos

"Parque Nacional Sierra de Órganos" on the Zacatecas-Durango border. So called because the tall jagged mesas resemble church organ pipes.  Here's a few photos I took while attempting to climb one.
